The National Initiative for Undergraduate Sciences (NIUS) is a large scale comprehensive nurture program launched in April 2004, encompassing all basic sciences, aimed at motivating and nurturing talented undergraduates for advanced studies and research in science.
Each NIUS student goes through 4 nurture camps spread over two years, supplemented by continual contact with the mentor.
NIUS Chemistry at HBCSE offers projects to undergraduates in the areas of Interfacial Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Computational Chemistry, with an emphasis on developing competency essential for doing research.
The programme is providing a platform for interactions amongst motivated undergraduates, faculty members from scientific institutions and chemical industries and teachers and HBCSE. These synergic interactions, in the long run, would help in the development of further programmes and pedagogical material useful for undergraduate education within the country.
